small lay-by access blocked by boulders. Access to 2 wheeled vehicles. Great spot protected from high winds. Pitch the tent deep and to the right, behind the copse and under the cutaway (next to the fire ring). Quiet, no traffic in the night and mostly hidden from view. Next to River Garvie.
Don't fall for the National Trust website that says you must have reservation and there is no parking for motorhomes. We were there at the end of June and there were 4 motorhomes parked there!
You only need reservations for the Experience. Provided you can find a parking space (or ride the shuttle from Bushmills) then you can bypass the Experience part to the right and walk under the archway and down to the causeway free. There is an accessibility bus that takes you all the way down the hill. Return trip is 4pounds.
large mud/gravel lot for Snowden Park walking trails. no water, no toilets. Very buggy. Road in is a bit hilly. No no camping signs. good for quick overnight.
County park. 12 RV sites with 50-30-20amps. Water. Dump site. Plenty of trees. Camp fire and picnic table. $20 for RV site with hookups. $15 for tent site. Bathrooms and showers available.
Eight, wonderful, shady, designated sites (do not make your own), above the fabulous Arkansas River with short descending trails for river access. Only one other person per night in the past 6 days. Metal fire rings, pack it out, two clean, central porta-Johns, serviced weekly. Mountain views, river music. I feel like I hit the camping lottery. Sites far apart. If you have 4wd, there are more remote, designated sites with metal rings off the dirt road on the right as you turn off the highway. And yes, there is a stone cabin.
This place is at the end of the road, if you stop earlier you are not in the Public Land territory (you can see the limits on Google maps).
The road is not the best, but we did it in a Grand Caravan with no problem.
The site is pretty much a large clear area with rocks. Depends were you park it’s pretty flat.
They’re a lot of room for different cars, even not on the same party.
They’re bugs and mosquitoes and only a bar of cell service.
This site is not the greatest, but if you want a lot of room and to see no people, this is the site.
Large parking area beside the river . Launching for kayaks. Tubers . Good for one night sleep. Other cars parked here that would be floating or paddling downriver . River not suitable for swimming due to current
In the rivercrossing is a long piece of reinforced steel that is bent in towards the road (concrete slab at the drift). This will cause damage to vehicles. I have already driven past and the coordinates might be slightly off. I came from Sesfontein towards Palmwag.
Quiet area up in mountains with a nice view. There are few parkings on a way up, there are playgrounds for kids. Relatively cool temperatures, a bit windy. Some families come in evenings, but at night it was empty. Beware of monkeys!
We find a place to refill the water behind tourism information. we are not sure if its potable.
Encontramos una canilla detrás de la oficina de turismo. pedimos permiso y fueron muy amables. No sabían si era potable o no pero para la ducha y platos viene genial
We intended to go to the Oklahoma welcome center but you can't get there from the south without overshooting it and and coming back so we decided to try this place and it worked out. Kind of noisy but no knock on the door!
State Park, admission is 9$. Acces to dump station, water (witch is brown but potable). Very Nice place for day use, nice picnic table by the lake. Nice trail for walk or bicycle.
You can also take a hot shower for 1$ (4 minutes).
There is also some camping spot, the price change with the service you take.
Big parking lot for any kind of RV. You're allowed to park for 48 hours. No service.
Grand stationnement pour toutes grandeurs de VR. Stationnement permis pour 24h. Aucun service.
From McClellan trailhead to here it is all national forest land. Several large clearing under the trees for tents. At least 3 pull offs from road good for a class B van or small tow trailer, might not be able to turn around well with trailer. Lots of people camping. A little trashed so please pack in and out.
Gravel roads not bad, seems freshly graded and graveled. No trouble in 2 wheel drive van.
Some Noise from highway.
1-2 bars on verizon at worst spots.
See photos for a few of the pull offs.
Nice spot off the highway 11. It’s at the end of a no exit street. Entry point doable with a 4 x 4 or higher vehicle. No trailer. Open flat area with ample space. Perfect for one nighters during commute.
wonderful Persian place! excellent ambiance and decorations. the food was high quality and inexpensive for the area. the drinks were very fancy designer drinks that were tasty but more expensive than the plate of shawarma. they even offered hookah options delivered right to your table, but we didn't try.
