Description

A very relaxing guesthouse with great camping spots along a river running through a coffee farm. Very helpful management. A great pool with hammock-lined patio for chilling. Restaurant serves set meals for a small fee and coffee, rum and beers are for sale. Espresso machine, coffee roaster and a fresh supply of beans grown on-site are free to guests. Grill available for use outside. The road in can be a bit bumpy, 4x4 required if you come from the south as the road is washed out into the river. Wifi was ghetto.

UPDATE: The Hacienda now has two places to stay - the main Casa at 350k COP a night an a Hostal that has been open about a year. There is a third place that was the original coordinates that is being redeveloped. The place to stay in a van is the Hostal (5.037147, - 75.565742). They do a decent lunch there if you want (15k COP). It is not possible to have lunch at the main Casa and Hostal guests cannot use the pool there either. The Hostal does have a kitchen.

Latest Check-Ins

Agree the only Overlander spot is the small space at the Hostel. With a trailer we stayed one night at reception and one night at the main house parking lot which is also the coffee processing place. Both had a lot of people coming and going and we weren’t allowed to use the pool or hangout at the main house. (Pool at reception was ok) Kids were told to leave the main house - awkward. We were basically restricted to the parking lot and worker bathroom. If you don’t fit at the hostel I can’t recommend this place. Also very busy with paying room guests and tours even on a weekday. Cocoa experience was great and camping price at 25k for all people was good.

Report Check-In

Attention. The Parking Lot at the Hostel is not Big Rig friendly. The road is very narrow and you can get problems with the height because of bambus trees. The parking lot is in my opinion only for small Vans and Jeeps.
The road is also very steep. But normal cars were also on the parking lot. The Hostel and all the other area are really beautiful. Everything is well maintained and clean.
The stuff are super friendly. The Coffee is also really good. We payed for 2 Person ( children free ) in a Motorhome 25.000 COP per Night. But we parked at the reception because we didn’t cant go the road to the hostel.
We did also the Birdwatching Tour. This was okay but nothing special for us. Otherwise we did many other Birdwatching tours in Central Amerika.
This is a good location to relax and hike.
Its in the middle of Coffee plantations and very quite.
The road from the main road is gravel but doable and not so bumpy as before.
Only the turn from the highway can a little bit difficult because it's a hairpin.

Report Check-In

We stayed on the grassy spot next to the hostal for three nights. The parking spot is not spectacular, but you spend the day at the pool of the Coffee House anyway! Lots of options for hikes and birdwatching. We also had the great breakfast at the hostal, did our laundry there and used their offer for a pizza kit and the pizza oven. Totally recommended, for 25k per night you can treat yourself here! Plus free coffee!!

Report Check-In

Stayed here 2 nights and it was fantastic. The nature and view is so beautiful out here!

The allow you to do camping at their hostel, which is mega clean and has everything an Overlander loves. Kitchen with many types of tools, laundry areas, hot showers, hammocks, even a minimarket and pizza ovens you can use.

Highly recommend the coffee tour around their land and facilities, with a nice homemade lunch at the end of it.

Report Check-In

We love the place and they are very friendly to overlanders. Breakfast with fresh O-juice and eggs of choice and the very good Coffee for 25k, Dinner (Buffet) for 30k. Tours, Pool, laundry for 25k. We loved the scenery, many birds and nice other travellers. Recommendation!

Report Check-In

Beaultiful place! Good coffee kind people!!! Stay here 5 days. Tour off coffee is very special. 50 COL 2 people in Motorhome

Report Check-In

No overlanders friendly ! Small parking for max 2 vehicles, sloping so impossible to sleep straight! With our roof tent that unfolds on the side we don’t have enough space so we left. Children pay the same price as adults! Family abstain! Pool 10min walk! This is the first time in 6 months in South America that we meet such an expensive campsite for such a small unsuitable space. Too bad because the place is pretty!

Report Check-In

we stay at the guesthouse which seems the most comfortable and modern in room (hostel and main building belong to the hacienda also). coming here with our rig was nearly ok (7,3m and 2,35 large no height restriction) : narrow path and 2 small rivers to cross so we touch the tow ball which is also fitted for....so NO need 4x4 to come here. tiny place to park in front of reception, not to sleep in RV. lunch is 21000cop expensive for what it is, diner much better, free coffee, bar with decent prices. staff friendly. nice pool and lot of birds to see and hikes to do. The track from Manizales to hacienda is much better than from the south road to the hacienda as we did when checkin.

Report Check-In

Actually there are not a good place to stay in a van. Tere are 3 places, the main house, the hotel más the hotel in three diferente places.
IN THREE MONTH IT WILL BE A WONDERFUL PLACE FOR 4 BIG TRUCKS WITH NICE VIEW, ELECTRICITY AND BATHROOMS. De spoke with the owner and todo us about this plan.
The area is nice with birds, flowers and WONDERFUL sorrounds.

Report Check-In

No longer big rig friendly. We are 3.5m tall and 7.4m longer and could just barely get in to the hostel. Too bad as the location is great, nice amenities and lots of hiking and birding.

Report Check-In

the fence is now finished. It seems, that they are not interested to campers. There is just one place where you can stay with your car, max. 18ft. The rest is as described below. Very friendly staff, but not really good for overlanders.

Report Check-In

It felt that it is not really an overlander place (for campervans/big rigs) anymore. We stayed here with our small van in front of the hostel on a none-leveled spot. It's direct at the "street" (it's more a walking path) and they started to build a fence so Big rigs will not fit anymore. Anyway, we could use anything of the hostel and the guesthouse, where you find the Pool. It's still a nice surrounding and you get free Coffee and water. Price is 20k p.P.p.N.

Report Check-In

This camping is open, and is a nice place to stay. The kitchen is good and also the shower. If you need a place to stay near from Manizales is a good option. If you have more time you can do the coffee tour. It's 20 cop pp for camping and 45 cop for the coffee tour.

Report Check-In

currently closed for renovations, should reopen in January we were told.

Report Check-In

20k pppn. Tranquil place with hot showers. WiFi is not very good.

Report Check-In

Very nice place, but we could just sleep on the parking of the hostel. 20000 p/p with nice coffee, warm showers and wifi. Inside would a camping spot, however this is just for tents.

Report Check-In

Very nice owners, and a beautiful pool and guesthouse. Price is still 20.000pp. Access road is a little bumpy, but no 4x4 or high clearance needed. Personal speaks English, and you can drink as much coffee you want.

Report Check-In

Price is now 20.000 COP pP. We arrived late and didn't have another option. Wifi is super slow and only working in one spot. Surely it is a nice place. When you drive there make sure to follow the sign to the hospedaje over the little bridge and not to the hostel.

Report Check-In

We arrived late at night at Hacienda Venecia. Really beautiful place in a running coffee plantation. We stayed two nights and made a coffee tour (3-4 hours, 40'000 peso/person).
You can stay with your motohome behind the guesthouse and you can use all the services like clean bathroom, coffee machine and internet.
Really nice and helpful owner and staff. You don't need 4x4 to get there on the path from the south. We made it with our Mercedes van while it was raining.

Report Check-In

Updating some info: 16.000 COP per person, great and clean toilets, hot showers, good wifi, no need 4x4 to get there, big rig friendly (we park 3 big rigs here), nice owner, great swimming pool area. Breakfast, lunch and diner available at restaurant, but the kitchen is not available for overlanders. There are also rooms if you need. Great place to spend few days.

Report Check-In

Not sure what is happening with this location but we were told we could not camp here. Perhaps it is under new management. Unfortunate as the property is a stunner! Continued to Hacienda Guayabal and had a nice stay there.

Report Check-In

We arrived quite late but must say that it was quite expensive for very little on offer. The area is fantastic but for a "one-nighter" I would have rather stayed at a Posto

Report Check-In

Super nice. Free coffee. Warm showers. The owner is really nice and speaks English. They recently extended the parking area in the back so there's quite a lot of room now for vehicles. The only downside was the constant exposure to sun as there's no shade in the back. Internet is too slow to do anything with it. Nice pool and mango trees. The left one of the two faucets in the kitchen has drinkable water. We paid 30000/night for two people.

Report Check-In

Be aware that OSM-based GPS-devices may guide you to the wrong access-road. Make sure to take the first turnoff coming from the south. The northern access is longer, extremly narrow and steep. On top we couldn´t see the sign guiding to the campsite, ended at a small river and were told by the locals that we have to cross the river to get to the main entrance. We were lucky that one of the managers showed up and guided us back to the real entrance.

Report Check-In

Paid 30k Colombian pesos. Great stay!

Report Check-In

We paid COL. $16,000 per person. All other comments apply. Adding a picture of the brutal right hand turn off of Rt 50. Local road was passable in our low clearance two wheeled vehicle.

Report Check-In

Great place for overlanders, highly recommended. Spectacular view across the coffee fields from where we parked for the night. Very nice people.

Report Check-In

We drove in here in the evening and the road felt a bit insane, but we arrived safe and sound to a great welcome from the manager, Juan, "I love Overlanders!" This place is beautiful, showers are amazing, great pool and kitchen. Highly recommended. Big riggers, I don't think you will make it in on the road in here. Maybe you could try. There is room if you can make it down the road. Price was steep at $18k per person per night.

Report Check-In

Very nice hostal. If you sleep in your car there is only 1 really nice spot and you have to level a lot. Good facilities, hot showers, swimming pool. We paid 18'000 COP pP.

Report Check-In

We camped here in July 2014. There is only one nice spot if you sleep in your car and you have to level it. Very nice hostel with pool, hammocks etc. They offer a coffee tour for 35'000 COP. Price for camping 16'000 COP pP incl breakfast.

Report Check-In

The hacienda is famour for ist coffee plantation tours. We personally didn't like the stay too much, as it is expensive and the service didn't fit our expectations.

Price:40000 Colombia Peso
