Something not right?

Description

Santa Teresa is the jumping-off point for people going the back way into Machu Picchu. As a result this place, the only campground in town, is often crowded with tour groups and people such as ourselves. The camping area was decent enough, but the bugs were very bad! There may have been a kitchen, we didn't investigate. You can leave your car parked here for S$5 per day while you head into Aguas Caliente and Machu Picchu. Hot showers cost an extra $5.

Latest Check-Ins

It is now Inkatour camping and hospedaje, for 2 night with one with us inside it was 15 soles with shower and banos. Be careful with the time to take back the road with the roadwork, we left aguascalientes at 10, walked 2 hours, arrived in hydroelectrica at 12, take a cab for 30 soles because there were no collectivo, take the van back and try to be between the opening of the road, we almost have no stop until km6/km8 and them we wait 1h30 and go up until santa maria. So be prepared to maybe wait in the sun.

excellent place to leave the car and go to hydroelectric. price 5 soles per car + 2 soles per person per day. safe place with cold showers and full bathrooms.

Nossa internet Bitel funcionou bem. @naestradadekombi

The whole camp site & toilets look bad and the owners don’t seem to care but at least it’s cheap and a good jump off to MP. The main business of the campground: Noisy tourist groups drinking their Self brewed sugar cane Schnaps partying with gringo latín playlists (Shakira, ABBA, me gusta la gasolina..)
10 soles per night. Ducha? -Frio!
Taxi to Hidroelectrica 30 soles, collectivo 5 soles.

We left our truck camper while we were in Machu Picchu. 10 soles per night. We took a taxi to hidrolectrica to start the 11km walk (2.3 hs). Taxi cost 5 soles per person.

Aquí dejamos el camper muestras estuvimos en machupichu. 10 soles por noche. 5 soles por persona el taxi a hidroelectrica donde empieza la camina por las vías del tren. 11km durante 2,5 horas

A few years later the same problems with toilets and bathrooms. They said it’s better to go to thermal bath then use the shower at the place - if you use it 5 Sol pP extra.
Loud tourist groups, younger people, every evening loud music.
WiFi doesn’t work but they sell it for 8 Sol extra.
15 Sol per car, if you leave the car here for going to Agua Caliente / Machu Picchu overnight 10 Sol.

Yep, can confirm the wrote commends before: Not to many toilets for a full campground, only one with a seat, not possible to lock the toiletdoor, loud tourgroups comming in and out, expensive bottels of beer (15soles on the campground for 7,5 in the village), one cold shower, The bugs that eating you alive......

But, god.......... I love this place!!!

Very friendly staff, the lovely people of the lovely town of Santa Teresa, 5Soles per person per night to camp, fresh fruit from the trees in the morning, the climate, WiFi spots in the main street of one of the many restaurants, the people who charge you honest prices for your grocceries, the complete village of Santa Teresa etc etc!

When you visit MP don't miss this lovely little town, you won't regret your visit. In fact it doesn't matter where you are staying: Hotel, Hostel or campground, you feel the friendlynest of the people around this lovely town!

Nice camping but bathroom need to be cleaned much more, only one toilet has a toilet seat. Paid 5spppn and 5spn parking the motorcycle when we went to Machu Picchu.

Report Check-In

stayed 3 nights here. Every night there was a fire and a party. We joined the party the first night and had a very good time. The other nights it didnt really bother us. Owner was really nice. Toilets were bad, shower was cold, too. But we had a very good time and would still recommend it. 10s for two people.

Report Check-In

We parked our car here for 5 Soles per night, while we were at Machu Picchu.

Spent another night here after Machu Picchu. Again loud music until very late/early. Not many other options but would not recommend. Toilets are bad. Too many people for facilities. Genaro (owner) is friendly but really does not care.

Report Check-In

Bathrooms are gross. They had an organized party with a DJ and lights and at least 40 people. Noise until late at night. But only 10 soles to stay and park during a Machu Pichu visit.

Report Check-In

We can confirm the toilets are not fit for the queen, however they will handle any size, shape or texture. Also the camp owner is awesome. There is a kitchen for the guides you might be able to use, otherwise there are covered areas to use.

This place is a bit of a mess but there are limited options in the area if you want to leave your vehicle. There are a ton of tour groups coming and going. We were not super enthusiastic about leaving the truck as the spit is very easily accessible but we did and had no problems. The owner is super friendly and very helpful. The bugs were REALLY bad when we were there but thankfully they subsided after the sun went down. We paid 10 soles per night total, same for parking overnight. We took a taxi to hydroelectrica for 30 soles and the walk to Aguas Calientes was around 2.5 hours. Bathrooms were dirty, not sure if there was a shower or not. The owner ket us wash dishes in the sink of the little kiosk selking beer, water, etc.

The only campsite in santa theresa to stay if going back way to machu picchu, s/10 a night for camping and s/ 10 to safely leave your car there. There are lots of places to park permitting theres no tours there. Bathrooms and kitchen available. Electricity available and 2 shops on site. Friendly owner . Its a 3 hr walk from here to hidroelectric then 3 hr walk to aguas caliente.

Report Check-In

Nice to let safely the car for S10 per day and go to Aguas Calientes next by taxi and then a 3h walk. Good when back to take a bath at Colcamayo also, S5. Possible sleep on the parking lot too or the campsite with a tent.
